Part-time Research Assistant (with possible consideration for a full-time position upon a satisfactory performance)

Project: Genre-based Approach to Enhancing Secondary Students’ English Writing Ability in Science Subjects

​

Duties

Support a research project in delivering workshops to local secondary school students for effective writing ability in science subjects; conduct research; participate and host professional development trainings for local teachers about the genre-based writing; assist the Project Investigator to run the research project, and implement online or face-to-face workshops with the participating schools and teachers; give feedback to the schools; and provide support to the team for programme evaluation.

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics/English Language Education or related disciplines with at least 1 year’s teaching experience, and no more than a total of 6 years of service at the University.  The candidate should have good command of written and spoken English.

Full-time/ Part-time Research Assistant  

Project: Developing Effective Clinical Communication: Applying Research Findings to Improve Patient Safety, Experiences and Outcomes.

​

Duties 

The candidate will be responsible for overall project planning and implementation of the research project and training workshops, including coordinating meetings with relevant parties, providing logistical support, literature review, developing teaching and learning materials, performing data entry and data analysis, assisting the training and preparing online final report etc. 

​

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree in Language Studies/Medicine/Public Health/Social Sciences or related disciplines and no more than a total of 6 years of service at the University.  The candidate should have good command of written and spoken English and Chinese. H/She should have a background of linguistics, medical or related areas, and plus at least 1 year of working experience.  Fresh graduates in related areas are encouraged to apply.

Dear Students
We are now recruiting 3-5 student assistants for a research project on “Genre-based approach to enhancing secondary students’ English writing ability in science subjects”.

Expectations:
Good proficiency in written English; Strong commitment  

Job duties:
literature reviews; data collection; data entry; translation (Cantonese to English); interview transcriptions

 
Allowance:
HKD55 per hour (Payment will be based on actual working hours)
